More than 40 BScN students attended a career panel at McMaster University on January 9 to hear from six nursing professionals about the variety of employment options available to students when they graduate.
The speakers came from a wide variety of fields including public health, technology and sales management, healthcare and government, and human resources talent acquisition.
The Student Representative Assembly (SRA), which represents and advocates for the needs of nursing students on the McMaster Students Union, hosted the evening. Third year nursing student Allisa Ragnanan and fourth year nursing student Kelly Long make up the SRA Nursing Caucus.
“We collaborated with the Student Success Centre, McMaster University Nursing Students Society and the School of Nursing to create an event that would help students answer questions they have about their career paths,” says Ragnanan. “Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and network. This event allowed students to reflect on where they see themselves in the nursing world, whether it be at the bedside or in the many other options nursing provides.”
