Dr. Alba DiCenso has been honoured for her significant contribution to health services research in Canada through her appointment to the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. Fellows of the Academy are elected on the basis of their demonstrated leadership, creativity, distinctive competencies and commitment to advance academic health sciences. Membership is considered one of the highest honours for members of the Canadian health sciences community.
Dr. DiCenso is a Professor with the School and holds the CHSRF/CIHR Chair in Advanced Practice Nursing. She is also the Director of the CHSRF/CIHR Ontario Training Centre in Health Services and Policy Research.
Her primary research interests include health services research, evidence-based nursing, and the introduction and evaluation of acute care and primary care nurse practitioner roles.
This is the second recent induction into the Academy for a School of Nursing faculty member. Dr. Andrea Baumann, Associate Vice-President, Faculty of Health Sciences International Health and past Associate Dean (Nursing), was inducted into the Academy in 2009.
